INFO:
Replying to @John John thank you for your Q homie ❤️ I’ve told this story before but we have some new homies here so I wanted to tell it again - PLEASE NOTE This was just my experience—I needed that moment of self-awareness to wake myself up. It wasn’t about beating myself up for the awful things I did; it was about confronting them honestly so that I could finally start working through the traumas I’d experienced and begin to repair the damage around me. As for the counselor—I’m not saying every recovering add1ct is suited to become a counselor. She had genuinely done the work, put in her time, and she was professional. She approached me with a balance of kindness and harsh truth, exactly what I personally needed at that moment. Also I believe in inclusive recovery so When I say one addict helping another is without parallel, I’m not pushing the 12-step programme onto everyone. It worked for me - doesn’t mean it works for everyone. However, I am emphasising the value of community, of listening to the stories of other recovering add1cts who truly know what it’s like - wherever you may find it. There are a variety of different communities available - from 12 steps to online forums (see my bio for free resources) - when you’re ready ❤️ Sometimes we need someone who’s been there to cut through the noise, get straight to the core issues, and help us start unpacking them further. I hope this made sense ily all
